named as segment chairs of TEA's SATE '13 Experience Design conference presented by Christie, taking place Oct 3-4 at the Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah, Georgia USA.

Mk Haley is with Disney Research, and a past conference chair of SIGGRAPH.
Phil Hettema is president and creative executive of The Hettema Group.
Al Cross is vice president of PGAV Destinations.
Adam Bezark is president of The Bezark Company.

The Themed Entertainment Association is looking for a new leader. Reporting to the President and International Board of Directors, this key staff member will lead the organization forward in its next evolution - running this non-profit with for-profit thinking and optimizing the enthusiasm of our membership with the future in mind. TEA is looking for an entrepreneurial executive who will help the association grow membership and build value by delivering programming and content that grows revenue streams.

The successful candidate will be a generalist, with experience across a wide range of management categories - finance and administration, marketing and communications, events, education and operations. Some experience in fundraising, sponsorship development and revenue generation will be an asset. A primary responsibility of the COO involves supporting the needs of TEA's 900+ member companies, the large volunteer contingent that make up the International and Divisional boards, various committees and those responsible for planning and executing events. Other current key initiatives include international expansion (with a current focus on Asia Pacific) and working with students, recent graduates and academic institutions on NextGen activities.

Fundamental responsibilities include ensuring smooth and efficient business operations, managing the small staff team and optimizing tools and technology to maintain effective communication.
If you have a demonstrated understanding of the Themed Entertainment Industry, international perspective, are a respected leader and have experience in both the for-profit and non-profit worlds - TEA would like to hear from you.

TEA's (Themed Entertainment Association) Eastern Division enjoyed an amazing evening on July 15, 2013 in Orlando. More than 140 attendees were treated to an exclusive overview of the new Disney Springs Model Preview Center (the planned transformation of Downtown Disney) and a networking mixer thanks to Walt Disney Imagineering!

Nominate a project for a Thea Award: Deadline July 10

Phil Hettema, Chair of TEA's Thea Awards Nominations Committee, says, "Welcome to the current Thea Awards judging cycle. There’s been a lot of activity in our industry this year and we are looking forward to reviewing your nominations."

The Thea Awards, created by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), celebrate excellence in the creation of compelling experiences and places. They are considered the "Oscars of the attractions industry."

Nominations for the current judging cycle close July 10, 2013. The slate of recommended award recipients will be announced in late fall 2013, and in spring 2014, the awards will be presented at a formal, black-tie dinner gala.
To be eligible, the project or event being nominated must have opened or taken place between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2013.
